North Ayrshire Council becomes accredited Living Wage Employer

NORTH Ayrshire Council is stepping up its fight against inequality after being officially accredited as a Living Wage Employer. The council is one of a number of local authorities from across Scotland to be officially accredited by the Scottish Living Wage Accreditation Initiative.

And we pay the new rate early each year – giving the lowest paid Council workers a pay boost in advance of christmas.

North Ayrshire Council become Living Wage employer five months early

North Ayrshire Council is stepping up its fight against inequality by committing to pay the new Living Wage more than five months early. On Monday - to mark the start of Living Wage Week - the new rate of £8.75 per hour was announced, a rise of 30p per hour on the current rate of £8.45.

Equal Pay

North Ayrshire Labour has ended the pay injustice suffered for too long, predominantly by females, by settling all equal pay claims.

Council settles equal pay claims

North Ayrshire Council has reached agreement over equal pay claims from more than 500 current and former employees. The workers, mostly women, had claimed they were paid less than others doing work of equal value. The council has not given a figure for the overall cost of the settlement but said all payments will be made in the next few months.
